How to get to Pavia

Pavia is a very old city located 35 Km south of Milan, in the north of Italy. Click here if you want to know where Pavia is and here if you want to see a detailed map of the city.

Pavia can be easily reached by frequent flights and trains.

BY PLANE

You can fly to one of Milan's three airports: Linate (50 km from Pavia), Malpensa (90 km from Pavia) or Orio al Serio.

If you arrive to Linate airport, the cheapest and easiest way to reach Pavia is to take one of the six direct shuttle buses (hours: 9 am, 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 5 pm, 8:30 pm; duration: 50 minutes; look for SGEA buses platform). Alternatively, you can take a bus to Milan's central train station (Stazione Centrale) or a taxi, which is however an expensive choice. Both alternatives will take about 30 minutes. From Milan's central train station, you can take a train to Pavia. The Milan-Pavia train ride takes 30-40 minutes.

If you arrive to Malpensa airport, you will find seven direct shuttle buses per day connecting Malpensa airport directly to Pavia (9 am; 11 am; 1:30 pm; 3 pm; 5 pm; 7 pm; 9.30 pm; duration: 75-90 minutes; look for SGEA buses platform 11 in front of exit 4 of the arrivals). Alternatively, you can take a train (Malpensa Express) that leaves every 30 minutes to Cadorna station in Milan (duration: 40 minutes). Cadorna station in Milan is on the same underground line as the Milan central station (green line). From Milan's central station you can take a train to Pavia. Buses and taxis (an expensive option) are also available from Malpensa to Milan's central station.

If you arrive to Orio al Serio airport, you can take one of the 25 daily runs from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm direct to Milan's central station. From Milan's central station, you can take a train to Pavia. The Milan-Pavia train ride takes 30-40 minutes.

BY TRAIN
